Now what? It's easy to get frustrated with all of these social media sites at your finger tips.

It's best not to get too overwhelmed--baby steps, my friend! Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say! My suggestion would be to start utilizing Twitter to gain followers and to network. This will allow you to gain friends on your Facebook and Myspace pages, with more hits to your website. Commenting on your followers blogs or websites can help to build relationships with your followers, plus add more exposure for your business. I have made many friends on Twitter just by complimenting them on their websites.

Once you have friends on your Facebook page, create a Facebook Fan Page for your business and invite your friends to become fans. This is a perfect way to get your business more recognition! Having a Facebook Fan Page, you can also get a widget for your website or blog to advertise your fan page and show your fans.

With your LinkedIn page, you can add people as contacts through yuor personal e-mail address book, and once they have accepted you as a contact, then you can look on their contacts to see if there is anyone you know or would like to connect with. Joining groups is also key in making adequate contacts that are in your industry or that could be possible clients. You can post discussions on the group's message board, while promoting your website or blog. Be careful though--you don't want to make it seem like you're a spammer, advertising your services everyday. You can get kicked out of a group for being a spammer!

Once you have made your appropriate contacts on your Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and LinkedIn, the sky's the limit! Posting at least once a day on either of these sites is essential in acquiring followers and more hits to your site, which means more business for you. On my next blog, I will write about why blogging for your business is important to add an expert touch, while keeping your clients and future clients intrigued.

My social media consulting business, http://www.triplethreatsocialmedia.com/, can help with your marketing needs! It seems like you would need to take a course to actually know how to utilize social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Myspace. While social media courses are available, some at $500 a pop, all it really takes is trial and error on your part in order to learn the basics.

For example, a lot of people don't know how important it is to have separate personal and business accounts for Twitter, Facebook and Myspace. Customers and future clients do not want to hear about where you went to eat for lunch or your religious or political views. Unless you are an expert columnist on religion or politics, people don't care to see it. Plus, you could end up offending people by accident, causing a major blow to your business. I have a separate Twitter page for my blog and for my business website. Although, it is good to show a little of your personality, because after all it's called "social media" for a reason! Re-tweeting a comment from a person you're following is a great way to make connections and gain more followers, just make sure the comment you're retweeting is beneficial for your clients. Direct messaging all new followers you have gained is also a great way to show you're are interested in what they have to offer, while promoting your website and or blog.

Having a Facebook Fan Page is important in order to promote your business and add more fans or customers. Plus, you can track how many hits you acquire each week with your facebook fan page, and it's free! If you have a little money, you can create a Facebook Ad to promote your fan page, which could help to add more hits on your business website. A LinkedIn account is primarily used for business contacts, but you can also join groups that could help you make more contacts that could eventually help with your business or become your customers. I have found joining groups on LinkedIn to be very beneficial to being introduced to a variety of people, a great way to social network!

Creating a Google Profile can also help promote your name and business. You can add your picture, career information, and the website URL's for your business and links to your Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and LinkedIn pages. It's an easy way to get on the first page of a Google search when your name is being googled so when prospective clients need to look you up, your credentials are listed on your Google Profile. Here is a link to my Google Profile http://www.google.com/profiles/traceytx

As daunting Social Media can be, I would advise to start with a Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn page. My business can customize to your current social media marketing needs, and will work with you to make the process as painless as possible! http://www.triplethreatsocialmedia.com/
